Outside of the General Assembly, committees take on certain responsibilities: legal issues, outreach, food, sanitation, facilitation, public relations, social media, etc. Though we prefer that committee discussion take place in person, at times this is not possible. The purpose of the Occupy Mississippi Forums are to provide a place for those discussions to take place, and place them all in one location that for each member of the group is easily accessible. The forums will ensure that all members, not just those within each committee, can see what is being discussed and comment or make recommendations accordingly. This will: 1) prevent any committee from gaining too much power or carrying out actions that have not been brought before the GA if members feel that said action should require GA approval, and 2) since no individual or group of individuals can ever hope to have ALL the answers/solutions to a problem, allow ALL members of Occupy Mississippi — and any others within the Occupy Movement — to provide feedback when needed. In the forums, there is also an Open Forum for open discussion about things not related to committee business. Please keep these discussions in the Open Forum and leave committee business to the Committee threads.
